There are many support groups for breastfeeding Moms. Following is a list of the top organizations that offer support and information. Mothers can check out each one to find the group that's right for them.

  1. La Leche League (www.lalecheleague.com/) - This well-known group offers everything from how to find the nearest LLL chapter to information on becoming an LLL leader. Online help, a product catalogue and a database of 15,000 breastfeeding reference articles are only a few examples of the scope of information this site offers.

  2. Breastfeeding.com (www.breastfeeding.com) - Breastfeeding.com is not only informative, it's fun, too. This dynamic site offers a directory on lactation consultants, video clips and information on nursing products. This group also likes to view the lighter side of breastfeeding with opportunities for lactating moms to send in their funny stories and baby photos, and a delightful jokes section to add a little humour to your busy day.

  3. International Moms Club (www.momsclub.org) - An organization founded by stay-at-home moms, for stay-at-home moms. This group is made up of several chapters in Canada and in 7 other countries. Members meet for chapter meetings, luncheons and other get-togethers that are scheduled during the day and children are welcome. Affordable membership fees.

  4. ProMoM Inc. (www.promom.org) - ProMoM is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing public awareness and public acceptance of breastfeeding. The site features shopping, discussion forums and an organized list of articles and essays.

  5. Adoptive Breastfeeding Resource (www.fourfriends.com.abrw) - Parents interested in breastfeeding their adopted children should take a look at this site. It features helpful hints, articles and links to sites supporting adoptive breastfeeding.

  6. World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (www.waba.org.br) - This site is inspiring and informative for lactating mothers all over the world. The WABA offers international breastfeeding campaigns and information, and links in French, Chinese, Italian and Portuguese.

  7. Canadian Paediatric Society (www.olsc.ca/corporate/paedia.htm) - The Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS) is a not-for-profit, voluntary professional organization. With 2000 members, the CPS advocates on issues relating to child health and welfare, provides continuing medical education for its members, and establishes Canadian standards and guidelines for practice.

  9. Jane's Breastfeeding and Childbirth Resources (www.breastfeeding.co.uk) - This UK-based site was created by a breastfeeding counsellor with the National Childbirth Trust. There is a good selection of links to breastfeeding information and a support section staffed by volunteers.
