About the OBC
- OBC is a volunteer organization made up of health care professionals and consumers sharing a commitment to support, protect and promote breastfeeding in he province of Ontario.
- Committee members represent many organizations such as the Ontario Public Health Association (OPHA), Lactation Consultants of Southern Ontario, the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO), consumer organizations and interested individuals.
- The OBC is responsible, in partnership, with the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada (BCC) for the implementation of the WHO/UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative in Ontario.
- Since 2003, a membership fee has been charged to generate funding for newsletter production and other communications and publications. The current fee is CDN$20.00 per year.
- The OBC provides an opportunity for networking and support on the journey to becoming "Baby Friendly".
